The accident occurred as Maria Eduarda was heading toward the community where she lived. The semi-truck had stopped on a stretch of the highway undergoing roadworks, and the motorcyclist struck the rear of the vehicle. The situation became even more heartbreaking when the young woman's mother went to the scene to check on the accident, initially unaware of who had been involved. Upon arriving at the site, she discovered that the victim was her own daughter. Maria Eduarda died at the scene.
