The perpetrator "Seyram Kwami Djentuh" attempted to plea not guilty via self defense. However that was swiftly shut down and he was formally charged with murder. It was found during the investigation, the perpetrator and his group were apparently "looking for a fight It was also stated that during the conflict at some point that Seyram made a throat slashing gesture to Lauie. The 2 groups had also apparently agreed to fight sometime before according to the official trial. The victim "Lauie Tagaloa" was described as kind and nice-hearted. Ms Tagaloa (the sister) said that the murder had a devastating impact on her parents with her mother visiting his grave daily and his father describing it as "his worst nightmare". "We will never get to see him grow old, we will never witness him getting married we will never get to see him be a father … nor we will ever see him again," she said. However the claims of him being "kind and nice-hearted" aren't exactly true as Lauie was involved in violent activities with groups. The perp "Seyram" was eventually sentenced to life in prison.
