A 33-year-old customer shot in the chest in a Bronx bodega early Tuesday has died, and authorities say the same armed robber seen on video firing at him is linked to another deadly robbery just days prior. Police got a call about the shooting on East 149th Street in the Concourse section of the borough shortly after midnight. The customer was taken to the hospital and initially expected to survive. Details regarding his death weren't immediately clear, and it wasn't known if he was targeted in the shooting. Two days before that shooting, just after midnight Sunday in Brooklyn, police say the same suspect was believed to have been the person who shot two restaurant employees in Brownsville, killing one of them. Investigators were said to be hoping that surveillance footage would aid in their search for a killer. Security video captured the entire 30-second incident in the Bronx. Two customers are in view of the cameras. One is standing at the counter, the other by the deli, looking for something in his backpack. Suddenly, a person in a maroon hooded sweatshirt enters the frame with a weapon drawn, pointing it at the man with the backpack. The person shoots the man, then runs behind the counter to the register, and is seen walking away with fistfuls of cash. He then grabs something from the man's backpack and runs off, though it was not clear what he took. The deli worker behind the counter was back on the job Tuesday evening and said the gunman got away with $400. The man police said they were looking for was identified as 31-year-old Jesus Acosta, who was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, white sneakers, and a maroon hoodie that he ditched about half a block away. Police said Acosta was also connected to the deadly shooting at the American Best Wings and Pizza Sunday morning on Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville, where a 44-year-old man died after getting shot in the head and a 39-year-old man was shot in the right leg. The owner of that shop said the shooter did little talking before opening fire — similar to what happened in the Bronx shooting. Records indicated the suspect has a criminal history. Acosta served 10 years in prison for assault and criminal possession of a weapon before his release on parole in April. Police said he has two distinctive tattoos: One says "Bronx" on his hand, and the other on his left forearm reads "Bobby." The search for Acosta is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. The United Bodegas of America was offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
