The girl was with her parents in a cultivated field (roça) when the animal attacked her. The ferocity of the attack caused desperation among her family members, who urgently requested an aircraft to transport the victim from the village to a medical facility with adequate resources, given the difficulty of accessing the region. The jaguar was killed following the attack. The child’s death was later confirmed. There are no official details regarding the amount of time that elapsed before she received hospital care.
