The incident was recorded around 9 pm, when the victim was bathing the animal. According to information from the Fire Department, the attack occurred suddenly. The victim was found lifeless inside the bathroom of the house, at Fazenda Santa Clara, located on the banks of the BR-316 highway. The victim's husband, known as "Jacaré," arrived at the scene and found the dog. Unable to leave due to the dog's aggressiveness, he locked himself in one of the rooms and called the police. The pitbull, which had lived with the family for approximately two years and had been adopted as an adult, exhibited extremely aggressive behavior. Police and fire department teams were called to the scene and attempted to restrain the animal using appropriate equipment, such as a choke collar. However, due to the dog's size and aggressiveness, the attempt was unsuccessful. Faced with the imminent danger, with the dog blocking access to the property and posing a risk to the man still inside, the police officers decided to intervene. The pit bull was shot and killed. The residence was then secured. The victim's husband, in a state of shock, received medical attention at the scene. Maria José's body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) for the necessary procedures. The case will be investigated by the competent authorities.
