The crash was reported at about 10:50 a.m. on May 6, 2026, east of Stony Ridge Road. According to the CHP, a Tesla Model 3 was traveling westbound on Old Woman Springs Road while a Kenworth T680 big rig was traveling eastbound. Preliminary CHP incident logs initially described the big rig as a "dump truck." Investigators said that, for reasons still under investigation, the Tesla veered into the opposing lane and collided head-on with the Kenworth. As a result of the crash, the female driver of the Tesla sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire reported the victim required extrication from the vehicle. A passenger involved in the collision sustained minor injuries.
