The video, reportedly recorded by the shooter himself, captures the moment the victim was approached and fired upon. The crime took place on July 5, 2026, on Rio Tapajós Street in the Dom Bosco neighborhood. The city was bustling that day due to a match involving the Brazilian national soccer team. According to the Rondônia Civil Police investigation, Thiago was walking along the street when he was approached by a man on a motorcycle. The suspect drew a weapon and fired at him. The victim was attended to by a Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) team and rushed to the Municipal Hospital in serious condition. Despite medical treatment, Thiago succumbed to his injuries and died shortly thereafter. Police inquiries indicate that the homicide was motivated by an argument over a request for R$ 5. The Civil Police have identified João Paulo Santos de Andrade as the prime suspect directly involved in the murder. Authorities state that he was identified through security camera footage and remains at large.
