Chicago Police responded to an alley behind the 700 block of West 54th Street near Union Avenue at approximately 6:25 p.m. on July 11, 2026, and found the decomposing body of a woman inside a garbage can. Both officers and the victim were in the alley near 54th and Union, police said. Authorities classified the incident as a death investigation pending autopsy results.
